Cricket Fun for the Under 7s – Toddlers Too
For Boys and Girls from 2 ½
The idea for ‘Little Wickets’ was born, when Nottingham mother of two, Chloe Williams, watched her son and daughter (then 2 & 4) joyfully whack a ball around on a chilly Cornish Beach. It was time for some toddler cricket fun, but despite the great offerings form the local cricketing community and other amazing sporting opportunities in her area there wasn’t anything crickety for the really little ones. So with the aid of an ECB Coach-trainer/PE Teacher with over 25 years’ experience, the ‘Little Wickets’ concept was born. A group of talented local cricket coaches were recruited. The first Little Wickets’ sessions started in June 2011.
Sowing the seeds for a lifelong passion and participation in sport. ‘Little Wickets’ is more than just learning to bat, bowl & field. The ‘Spirit of Cricket’ is delivered through a sense of fair play, participation & having fun. The enthusiastic, qualified and vetted Little Wickets’ coaches have a wealth of coaching experience (especially with younger kids). ‘Little Wickets’ offers separate 1st Innings sessions designed specifically for pre-schoolers to nurture the ‘FUNdamentals of Movement ‘, whilst the 2nd Innings sessions for primary school aged kids develop team work, individual skills & game play. Whatever the kids’ ages the emphasis is always on joining in and having fun!
‘Little Wickets’ East Midlands currently offer weekly, year round, weekday and weekend indoor sessions during term time in Bingham, Keyworth, West Bridgford & Wollaton, with timings to suit increasingly busy family schedules. More locations and venues are in the pipeline. The ever-enthusiastic Little Wickets’ coaching team also run Holiday Camps for all primary school aged children, After School Clubs, Events & Kids Parties.
‘Little Wickets’ sessions are prepaid in advance for at least half a term, with discounts for full term booking and siblings. The Little Wickets’ team know that taking on new activities can often be a daunting experience with little ones so they also offer a unique Newcomers’ Guarantee; if after a couple of weeks it just doesn’t work out for whatever reason they will refund the unused prepaid sessions.
‘Little Wickets’ Founder and Managing Director Chloe Williams says
“Between raising two small children, my work existing commitments & family life, starting up a new business was probably a daft thing to do and it has been tough going at times. But it has also been incredibly rewarding to watch all the kids (especially my two) develop valuable physical and life skills whilst having so much fun. I believe that participation in lots of different sports is key a part of kids’ rounded development. You can never start too young. The parents and grandparents positive feedback has galvanised me to keep growing the business and offering more & more kids this great opportunity. The parents also clearly appreciate that I approach it as a Mum, with the kids’ fun and participation at the heart of everything ‘Little Wickets’ does. I am incredibly proud of the incredibly talented coaching team, whose energy, enthusiasm and commitment make it all possible”

It was all so well organised and entertaining. So many parents commented on Paul’s extraordinary talent at coaching children. It is a rare sight to see 22 four and five year old over excited boys at a birthday party hanging on someone’s every word and gesture.”
